R BRUCE RICHARDSON on AN AUSTRALIAN BIRDING YEAR

R Bruce Richardson is an American singer/songwriter and sometimes philosopher who now lives in Australia. In 2015-16, with his wife Lynne he spent 12 months travelling Australia trying to see as many species of Australian birds as possible. His trip took him to all parts of Australia and some very remote places. His adventures, and thoughts on life are now recorded in a best selling book. Bruce will share some of his experiences and photographs with you in an entertaining evening.

A YEAR BIRD-WATCHING AROUND AUSTRALIA

Showing photos from across Australia and its territories, Bruce talks about his travels in the pursuit of seeing birds, particularly ones he had not seen before. He most recently returned from Tasmania and then the islands of the Torres Strait. Whether you are interested in birds or not, the photos and the commentary accompanying them makes an entertaining presentation and give you an insight into a growing hobby in Australia. Bruce travelled to some remote places in Australia, including Jupiter Wells, which is 800 kilometres west of Alice Springs and Christmas and Cocos Islands. Bruce is also an amateur philosopher and his talks on birds are also filled with his thoughts on life and people.

R. Bruce is an author, singer/songwriter, and entertainer. In 2015- 2016 he travelled the whole of Australia with his wife, birding and wrote "An Australian Birding Year", which became an Amazon bestseller. It is published by John Beaufoy Publishing of Oxford, England. R. Bruce was born in the USA, but lives full-time in Australia as a permanent resident. His travels around Australia began in a mobile home but the rugged conditions in the outback soon saw him change to a Troopie.
