TRICIA PYE on INTERNET CONNECTION AND SECURITY

Tricia Pye is from The Tec Exec, a local business that provides training and support in digital technology. For the last six years she has been running community sessions across southern NSW for anyone who wants to feel safer and more confident using technology and the internet.

Tricia is providing training to local community groups in online digital and social media training sessions so bring your phone or tablet to your Rotary meeting for a Cyber Security checkup.

INTERNET CONNECTION AND SECURITY

1 in 4 people in Australia continue to be digitally excluded, not having the technology, internet connection, skills or confidence to access the digital world. This issue is higher in regional communities and is exacerbated by natural disasters and emergency situations.

The Tech Exec has been part of the Good Things Foundation's network of community partners for over six years and in that time has delivered digital inclusion support to many people in regional areas. Tricia Nye has been instrumental in delivering much of this training.

Tricia also had an idea to test the Starling satellite internet for regional areas to improve performance and to ensure access to communication during disasters. A new initiative, SkyFi satellite access points, aims to help vulnerable people connect and learn in regional and remote locations, especially where there are large numbers in training sessions and in the event of an emergency.
