CHRIS EDWARDS on AUSSIE PEACE WALK
Chris Edwards is an engaging guest speaker who has presented many clubs and at Zone 8 conferences in Darwin, Hobart and Christchurch. The Aussie Peace Walk is an annual two-day intercultural walking festival held in Canberra each March. In 2024, the event attracted participants from every Australian state and territory as well as 118 internationals from 14 countries who came to Canberra specifically to take part in the event. Organised by a committee made up of representatives of five Rotary clubs, the event aims to actively promote peace by bringing people of all ages and cultural backgrounds together for the weekend to build cross-cultural understanding whilst engaging in an activity that is good for everyone's physical and mental wellbeing.
The Aussie Peace Walk is a complex project with many aspects that would be of interest to any Rotary Club. To get maximum value from a talk, it would be best to focus a talk on selected aspects of the Aussie Peace Walk, depending on what the club is most interested in.
Chris can tailor a talk to suit club needs, including any of the following:
- Aussie Peace Walk Foundations: Creating the core elements and then promoting it to the world.
- The Aussie Peace Walk Journey. Continual development and future planning.
- Opportunities to promote Rotary, Rotary Clubs and Rotary projects at the Aussie Peace Walk: participating, volunteering, showcase projects, fundraising.
- Developing a Marketing Communication Strategy: Balancing media and message to engage an audience using the Aussie Peace Walk as an example.
- The strategy behind the Aussie Peace Walk website: How we attracted 12,000 website visitors in the last 12 months with an average stay of 2m18s.
- Why the Aussie Peace Walk website is ideal for promoting Rotary Youth Programs: Demographic analysis, statistics and opportunity.
- Multi-Club Collaboration and community engagement: How the Aussie Peace Walk engages with clubs and community groups.
- Promoting Rotary and engaging with 25 to 45-year-olds.
- How the Sydney City2Surf influenced the creation of the Aussie Peace Walk: From Rotary fitness to Active Rotarians to the Aussie Peace Walk.
