ROTARY FOUNDATION

The Rotary Foundation is your charity. It transforms your donations into service projects that change lives close to home and around the world. The Rotary Foundation helps Rotary members to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty. Since it was founded more than 100 years ago, the Foundation has spent more than $4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects.

The major areas of focus of the Foundation projects are:

  • Basic education and literacy
  • Community economic development
  • Disease prevention and treatment
  • Maternal and child health
  • Peacebuilding and conflict prevention
  • Water, sanitation, and hygiene
  • Environment

The Programs of the Foundation are:

PolioPlus: Since 1988, Rotary and our partners have immunized nearly 3 billion children against polio. Rotary has committed more than $2.5 billion to global polio eradication. We’re still working to eliminate the wild poliovirus in the last two countries where it remains endemic and to ensure that it does not return elsewhere.

Rotary Peace Centers: Each year, the Foundation supports the training of peace fellows at Rotary Peace Centers, where they earn master’s degrees or professional development certificates. Since 2002-03, 1,600 fellows from more than 140 countries have participated.

District grants: District grants support small-scale, short-term projects related to the Foundation’s mission. In 2022-23, the Foundation approved 473 district grants totalling $26.2 million.

Global grants: Global grants fund large-scale international activities with sustainable, measurable results that support Rotary’s areas of focus. Activities include humanitarian projects, scholarships, and vocational training teams. In 2022-23, the Foundation approved 1,098 global grants, and program awards totalled $54.6 million.

Disaster response grants: Rotary’s disaster response grants support relief and recovery efforts in areas that have been affected by natural disasters within the past six months. In 2022-23, the Foundation approved 321 disaster response grants, and program awards totalled $14.8 million.

Programs of Scale grants: Programs of Scale grants empower Rotary members to work with experienced partners to implement large-scale, high-impact projects over three to five years to benefit a large number of people. United to End Cervical Cancer in Egypt, which aims to ultimately reduce the number of cervical cancer cases in Egypt by implementing a four-year campaign to increase awareness about cervical cancer and how to prevent it, was awarded the 2022-23 grant of $2 million and was matched by $4 million in funding from our partners

PAUL HARRIS SOCIETY

The Paul Harris Society, named for Rotary’s founder, is made up of dedicated supporters who commit to contributing annually US$1,000 or more to The Rotary Foundation. The contributions can be to the Annual Fund, PolioPlus, or an approved Rotary Foundation grant.

The annual support of Paul Harris Society members allows us to fulfil the promises we make to improve our communities and communities around the world.
